Portfolio > Who Do We Think We Are

Director Sue Lefton, designer Agnes Treplin and their team have ensured that it looks lovely and moves well whether presenting a vignette of history or an underwater world full of fishes. Projections by Gillian Tan, often featuring personal family photographs or film, help identify date and location... - Howard Loxton, British Theatre Guide

...accompanied by dynamic video and lighting design which very effectively shift tone and atmosphere... - Beccy Smith, Total Theatre

In 2013 a group of older actors met in a rehearsal room to explore their family histories. What emerged over the next year was a remarkable collection of stories – from being a child in the Warsaw Ghetto, to surviving the atomic bomb in Nagasaki, to getting stoned at Woodstock. Who Do We Think We Are?is a kaleidoscope of personal stories from 1914 to 2014 infused with live music and physicality to create a life-enhancing evening in the theatre.

Fast-paced, funny and poignant, this is the first piece of work created by Visible, Britain’s only professional theatre ensemble made up entirely of ‘older’ performers in their 60s, 70s and 80s with an array of credits across theatre, film and television.
